Astrology  

Astrology is often portrayed in the popular press as another form of fortune telling. It is, in fact, no such thing. Rather it can be likened to a map. The signposts it offers, however, are directions to the soul’s process on it’s excursion through life. It in no way ‘predestines’ one’s life or personality. Rather, it can point to areas of strengths and weaknesses, which each individual can then decide to enhance or work with. All natal chart analyses are based upon the time of birth for the individual concerned. It is important therefore, that this be as correct as possible. As little as 10 minute’s difference in the birth time can mean that one third of the chart is incorrect. There are, however, various ways of correcting any discrepancies.

The principle of astrology rests on the premise that we are all part of a universal whole. A further premise is that the solar system represents a ‘mirror’ of our psyche. The common quote inscribed over the entrance to the temple at Delphi states, “Man know thyself”, what is not commonly known is the rest of the quotation, “and ye shall know the universe and the gods that rule therein”. In more recent times astrology has come to be seen as a model of the human psyche.  Each zodiac sign representing a particular attitude, each planet represents a facet of the psyche, and each house indicates the arena in which a unique drama is ‘played out’.  

Compiling an analysis is a complex process. We each grow and develop in part according to our early environmental influences. Astrology, similar to genetics, can only show a predisposition toward something. If an individual’s chart shows that they have a potential skill, or interest, and that skill is, not only not encouraged, but also actively disapproved of, then it is unlikely that the individual will develop it to any degree. However, having said that the unfolding of a soul’s process is always unique and sacred; a

ll experiences need to be honoured as the choice of the individual. This is so, even when we cannot understand or perceive the meaning of the experience.
